Michael D. Nelson was born in Torrington, Wyoming, and received his education at the University of Wyoming, graduating with honors, and University of North Dakota School of Law, with distinction.

Prior to joining Ohnstad Twichell, P.C., he was a law clerk to Chief Judge Paul Benson, U.S. District Court, District of North Dakota. Mike is a member of the Cass County Bar Association, State Bar Association of North Dakota, North Dakota Defense Lawyers Association, Defense Research Institute, and Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association. His practice includes insurance defense and commercial litigation.

Mike and Bette have three grown sons. They enjoy sporting events and traveling.
