Biography
Katie J. Schmidt was born and raised in Rochert, Minnesota. She attended Bemidji State University for undergraduate studies and received a degree in Criminal Justice, graduating with honors. She graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law, with distinction, in 2011. Prior to joining Ohnstad Twichell, Katie served as a law clerk for the judges of the Northwest Judicial District of North Dakota, for Judge Shon Hastings at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of North Dakota, and for Judge Kermit E. Bye of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Katie practices in the West Fargo office and is licensed to practice law in North Dakota and Minnesota. She concentrates her practice in the municipal law, municipal bond law, and bankruptcy/financial restructuring and was selected to the 2019 Great Plains Rising Stars list of North Dakota. She enjoys athletics and spending time outdoors.
